Usually in the US, the second quarter of the business year is a good one from an employment perspective, but not this year. The economy is still in a recession and jobless claims continue to rise. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 1,851 mass layoff events in the second quarter of 2010 that left 338,064 workers out of work. One category stood out from the rest though. Information Technology jobs seemed to hold their own, and projections for future employment in this field look very good. In addition, the majority of people employed in the IT field make over 36,000 dollars a year, which makes it one of the highest earning professions.
